Tammy Abraham Leads a 5-Goal Stampede over Wolves

This must've been designated as Wipeout Weekend by the London sides.

First, Tottenham Hotspur nukes Crystal Palace, and here, Chelsea unleashed a barrage of goals in the West Midlands, opening a 4-0 lead on the way to demolishing Wolves, 5-2.

Tammy Abraham's been on a roll lately, and he kept the momentum going with a hat trick in this one.

It's gotta be warming the left cockle of Frank Lampard's heart.

Ironically, the party was slow to get started. There wasn't even a single shot on target before the half-hour mark.

Then, the pace changed. In the 31st minute, a corner clearance fell to Fikayo Tomori, who curled home into the top corner from distance. Quite a goal from the Chelsea defender:

It only took the Blues three minutes to extend their lead.

Abraham capitalized on a loose ball and drilled it from close-range:

All of a sudden, it was like a shooting gallery at Molineux.

The difference was the Blues were on target.

Abraham made it three for Chelsea on 41, as he headed home a cross from Marcos Alonso:

After recharging his batteries during the intermission, Abraham completed his hat trick.

Dude was the beneficiary of service from Jorginho. He proceeded to round Conor Coady and find nirvana:

As hot as he was, Tammy wound up sharing the wealth.

In the 69th minute, Kepa Arrizabalaga fumbled a ball which deflected off Abraham's hand before going in:

He's apparently a goal magnet right now. Just gotta get his bearing straight.

Wolves grabbed a second of their own volition in the 85th minute. Kepa parried away a Matt Doherty attempt that fell into Patrick Cutrone's path. Dude promptly accepted the gift and tapped it in:

As if they didn't have themselves a day already, Chelsea made it five in the closing minute.

Michy Batshuayi fed Mason Mount, who curled into the corner:

Busy day.

Both teams will now kick off their European season at mid-week:

  • Chelsea will have Valencia in the Champions League, and
  • Wolves will host Braga in the Europa League.
