Hubris at The Ohio State University appears to be limitless.
While nauseatingly successful on the football field, the wells of hypocrisy and moral ambiguity run pretty deep.
However, this reality hasn't deterred school administrators in the slightest.
If anything, it's getting worse.
Recently, the school formally submitted a trademark application for the word the, which is every bit as ridiculous as it sounds, if not more so.
These massive tools would like to place this single article on various apparel, in an apparent attempt to seize control of speech and language.
We'll let trademark lawyer Josh Gerben explain why this is folly:
The Ohio State University has filed a trademark application on the word "THE."

The filing, made on August 8th, indicates #OhioState is offering a brand of "THE" clothing.
Not sure how 'The U' will feel about this one.

Yep, that's why.
But wait, there's so much more:
THE Michigan Law School finds this amusing. 😂https://t.co/JakneMQhbB

Coach Harbaugh probably has his khakis in a bunch about this, as well.
I remember THE time that THE Ohio State University lost THE game to Iowa by THE score of 55 to 24 pic.twitter.com/NBc9X0fawD

See, facts always enhance the humor.
Ohhh, those daffy Buckeyes. Ohio State is trying to trademark the word "the," for its frequent usage in "THE Ohio State University," and also for its frequent usage in "We vigorously deny THE charges ..."

That one must sting a bit.
And finally, we'll allow Ohio University to have the final word:
