The Ohio State University Finds Yet Another Way to Embarrass Itself

Apparently, the social media and public relations arms of The Ohio State University are engaging in some sorta perverse competition to determine which department is worse at its respective job.
And both appear to be winning.
In a tweet that's been deleted but still remained up much longer than it should've, the school made a reference to silencing the crowd at Happy Valley during the upcoming clash with fellow unbeaten Penn State.
Of course, in the context of football, this is completely innocuous.
However, there are other mitigating factors to consider if you're in any way associated with The Ohio State University.
Like maybe that pesky domestic violence issue involving a position coach hired and subsequently protected by your head coach, the utterly loathsome Urban Meyer.
So, you know, actually using the word silence with the image of a player with a finger over his lips when physical and emotional abuse is being systematically supressed in your offices is perhaps not the most prudent course of action.
The Twitter reaction was swift and terrible.
How many people have to tell you this is stupid and grossly insensitive before you delete it and apologize? Good grief. https://t.co/nQwuQvYBXT

Of course, they did eventually delete it but took their sweet time in doing so.
you guys are pretty good at silence.

Indeed they are. It's second nature, really.

And we have a winner.
The school administration feebly attempted to explain:
As we have done in the past and in preparation for Saturday’s game, we issued a message to our fans via the football social media outlets. The message has been interpreted in ways we absolutely did not intend, and we have removed it from our channels.

Well, there you go. All better now.
Can't wait to see what these geniuses come up with for the Purdue game.
