Leicester Surprises Spurs with Late Comeback

Tottenham sauntered into Leicester's King Power Stadium and started this match as everyone would expect.

Namely, a scoring snipe from Harry Kane.

However, Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison fashioned a spiffy comeback late in the proceedings to nick those three points on offer from the North Londoners with a satisfying 2-1 triumph.

Tottenham had six changes in their Starting XI, with Christian Eriksen opening on the bench and Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli not being in the squad at all.

Even with the changes, Spurs began in their usual attack mode. However, the Foxes weren't passive, mounting charges of their own. It seemed to get results in the 15th minute, via Wilfred Ndidi. But, as they say in the NFL ...

VAR disallowed it for offside.

After that, it was Tottenham's turn. In the 29th minute, Heung-min Son fed Kane, who drove into the box. The English striker lost his footing and went down but somehow still managed to clip a shot into the far corner past Kasper Schmeichel.:

The second half featured energy, but not much to show for it until the 64th minute.

That's when Tottenham got what they thought was their second goal.

Again, VAR disallowed it, this time for the slightest offside from Son that basically confirmed the machines are taking over.

Of course, as these things usually go, only five minutes later, the Foxes got the equalize.

Jamie Vardy raced down the left and cut the ball across goal for Pereira at the back post. Dude fired home, with a slight deflection, off Danny Rose:

It was clear as water that Tottenham players felt the goal.

After that, Leicester had the better chances. Mauricio Pochettino brought in Eriksen, trying to add more firepower, but it wasn't enough.

In the 85th minute, the Foxes sealed the deal with  stunner from Maddison. Dude picked up the ball outside the box and rifled a wonderful, dipping effort into the bottom-left corner past a scrambling Paulo Gazzaniga:

With this victory, Leicester is now the third in Premiership's table with 11 points, while Tottenham is currently in 5th with 8 points.

The Foxes are now far removed from their magical 2015-2016 campaign, but results like this one kindle thoughts of another run at it.
