Juventus Close In on the Treble

They're giddy with anticipation in the relevant sections of Turin.

Juventus collected another jewel in its quest for a treble crown when they defeated Lazio, 2-1, in extra time to claim the Coppa Italia.

Already in possession of the league title, Juve had to fight for every opportunity in this one.

Juve are still far from a perfect team. Their vulnerability was glaring in the game's fourth minute:

The ball, dudes? Any defender want a hint as to where the ball might be going by actually tracking it?

It's a novel concept, to be sure.

However, Lazio doesn't have anyone known for being the king of set pieces. That's down to Juve's Andrea Pirlo, and he delivered a wonderful ball.

Shades of the Spiderman origins? Looks like Luis Suárez’s bite has given Giorgio Chiellini abilities, too.

Maybe that's why Chiellini didn't react much.

Still, the game had to wait till extra time for Juventus to finally grab the winner. Alessandro Matri delivered the telling blow.
