Vegas Is Still in the First-Ever Business, Gets First-Ever Playoff Victory

Odds are that somewhere in this crazy world, there's at least one dude who thought it'd be cool to lay a futures bet on an expansion team to win the Stanley Cup.

The Vegas Golden Knights were the longest shot in the league because why wouldn't they be?

200-1.

Then the season started, and so did Vegas' assault on seemingly every positive expansion-team record in the NHL's books.

Going from a $500million pipe dream to Pacific Division leader at warp speed has been nothing short of incredible.

There's a calculus of reasons for their success, but foremost among them is the fact that Pittsburgh's Penguins had an embarrassment of riches between the pipes.

The Golden Knights were more prepared than most for their first-ever playoff game, being as how Marc-André Fleury already had 10 career playoff shutouts to his name.

Now, dude's got 11:

Drew Doughty drawing a suspension for that hit on William Carrier isn't exactly gonna help the Kings' cause in Game 2, as it's tough to imagine Jonathan Quick playing any better in net.

North American sports' feelgood story just keeps on rolling, but they're not exactly surprising anyone anymore.

If that's gonna happen, they'll need to survive a couple more rounds.

At that point, whoever bought those 200-1 tickets might wanna think about taking them off their mancave wall and outta their frame.
