The Shot Dude: Opportunity Knocks

When opportunity knocks, one should accept it with open arms.

Knowing that it's opportunity knocking is the hard part!

But there's nothing hard about today. Your favorite Shot Dude is knocking, so let me in!

I've done all the heavy lifting and brought the best NHL players for you to use in your fantasy matchups.

Check out today's immense 12-game schedule using the Bovada data tool on our Home page. There's a treasure trove of stats there, so feel free to delve to your heart's content.

NHL schedule 12 Nov 2015

If you haven't already, register to get in on the action at FanDuel. I'll include their prices with each player.

Forwards

Alex Ovechkin, Washington ($10,100) ... took 15 shots on goal in his last game alone! None of them lit the lamp in Detroit, but when you're averaging almost 6 shots per game, you're chances are high.

His 77 shots in 13 games leads the NHL by a wide margin. Ovie faces an inept Philly defense --  part of yet another team meeting; sheesh! -- that gives up over 34 shots per game. This ranks 2nd worst in the league. That sound you hear is Ovie's great opportunity to knock in a few pucks vs. the Flyers tonight.

Tyler Seguin, Dallas ($8800) ... is second behind Ovechkin in shots on goal this season with 66. Seguin leads the NHL with 23 points (9 goals & 14 assists) and is salivating over the chance to face Winnipeg. The 'Peg is ninth-worst in giving up shots per game, at just under 31, and fifth-worst in goals allowed with 45. The Jets have taken the most minor penalties with 71 so far, and Seguin has played a huge role in the Stars' power play unit with 7 points.

James Neal, Nashville ($6400) ... brings value to your lineup without giving up much production. Neal ranks in the Top 10 with 57 shots taken in 14 games for Nashville. He has scored 7 goals and squares off against a Toronto team with only 2 road wins. The Leafs have given up 15 more goals than they have scored. I like the Preds to win a 4-1 game with Neal being very involved in the scoring tonight.

Bovada matchup Toronto v New Jersey

Defensemen

Rasmus Ristolainen, Buffalo ($4100) ... is second on the Sabres with 41 shots taken in 15 games. Dude's scored 4 goals and added 4 assists while playing over 24 minutes per game. As well, he's the point man for the Sabres' second power play unit. Buffalo is looking for a state of Florida sweep tonight. They beat the Lightning, 4-1, on Tue 10 Nov, and a win over the Panthers would get them to the .500 mark at 8-8.

Colin Miller, Boston ($3000) ... is a minimum salary blueliner who gives you the opportunity to fit high-priced studs into your lineup. Miller makes the most of his time on the ice as a part of the Bruins' second power play unit. He's scored a goal on 21 shots and added 6 assists. Miller and Boston are on home ice facing a Colorado team that's given up 42 goals and an average of 30 shots per game.

Goaltender

Corey Crawford, Chicago ($9000) ... has been an unstoppable force in net at home for Chicago. In 8 starts at the United Center, he has 6 wins, a .930 SV% and sports a 1.99 GAA. New Jersey is in town and they struggle to score goals. The Devils average less than 26 shots per game and have only mustered 35 goals in 15 games. This might be Crawford's BEST opportunity to grab a win all season, and your Shot Dude thinks the Blackhawks shutout the Devils 2-0.

Like the Rolling Stones have asked many times, Can't You Hear Me Knockin'? Please take advantage of the opportunity before you.

As always, you can't win unless you give it your best shot!
