Mathieu's Contract with Cardinals May Require Several Drug Tests a Month

You knew when the Arizona Cardinals took a chance on LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, it was with some reservations and stipulations.

Well, we now know what kind of stipulations.

Mathieu just signed a four-year, $3million dollar contract with the Cardinals, which basically puts him at the minimum salary for the most part. Still, Mathieu according reports had to agree to a few conditions.

The main thing the previously high-flying Honey Badger must do is enter the NFL drug program and agree to drug testing. According to people in the know, Mathieu may be tested up to 10 times a month, but Mathieu and his agent agreed to these terms. After all, it's not like he hasn't been there before.

If Mathieu stays clean throughout his contract, he'll receive the rest of his signing bonus, which is suppose to be $265,000.

I would think that with all this money on the line, Mathieu would do whatever it takes to stay clean. Of course, I would have thought that as well when he played for LSU, that helping his team win a national championship would be more important than lighting up, but as we saw and heard later, it wasn't.

So, maybe the promise of money will motivate this kid to stay on the straight and narrow.

But then again ...
