Falcons' Jones Out for the Season; TO Rumors Abound

Earlier this week, the Atlanta Falcons confirmed their star wide-out, Julio Jones, will probably be out the rest of the season because of a foot injury.

With injuries already to running back Stephen Jackson (hamstring) and wide receiver Roddy White (a bit of this; a bit of that), the Falcons may be turning to 39-year-old Terrell Owens for help.

According to ESPN, Owens has been asked to workout with the Falcons. I'm sure Matt Ryan was thrilled to hear that news.

But at this point, do they have a choice?

White is banged up, Tony Gonzalez is not a spring chicken, and all they have left in the receiving corps is Harry Douglas, who is holding his own, but he can't do it by himself.

As we reported a few weeks ago, TO wanted to try out for the Patriots, but obviously, that request fell on deaf ears.

It was all over cyberspace today that the Falcons might invite him for a tryout. However, the team denied it, and most sites that carried the rumor have since gone 404.

This scenario would have been a better fit for TO, because Atlanta desperately needs wideout help and might be more willing to put up with him and his antics. At least, for now.

And hey, even if we don't see TO on the field next week, we can always see him on Oprah's OWN Channel trying to fix his life under the direction of Iyana Vanzant on Saturday nights.

Not quite as good as being on-screen on Sundays, but that's his lot in life right now.

And it underscores just how dire Atlanta's is.
