LSU Shuts Down Mississippi State in Build-Up to Alabama

With one exception, this game went the way most clashes at Death Valley do.

Defense was at a premium, and offense was a rumor.

This works for LSU more often than not, and it did here as the Bayou Bengals stuffed Mississippi State, 19-3.

However, it came at a high cost.

Not like that. Save your Bitcoin for Bovada, and remember that it's far better utilized as a means of exchange and not an investment commodity.

But that's down to you.

What's down to the Tigers is what to do without their top defensive player for their first half against Alabama. Devin White got nicked for a targeting infraction late in this game:

The Louisiana governor was in attendance and has a question:

Ironically, compare White's hit to this non-call that had a major effect in a key Pac-12 game, where a targeting penalty woulda sustained a late-game Washington State drive against USC:

Not that Pac-12 officials should be a standard or anything, but really. That wasn't even the only blatant non-call in the game.

But refs in the allegedly rougher, tougher SEC are assumed to have more game sense.

All that LSU knows is they're likely without White for the first half in two weeks against Alabama.

But will it matter?

Here's the sum total of their major scores against the Bulldogs, with the short field compliments of a Nick Fitzgerald pass being intercepted not long after kickoff:

Take note that dudes finally punched it in on 3rd-&-goal. What a drive.

Other than that, this game was all about field goals, four of which were LSU's.

They'd better conjure up some serious Ed Orgeron magic during the bye week, or phantom targeting calls will be the least of their concerns.
