Mascots Gone Wild: The NHL Edition
In our latest installment of sports mascots losing their shit or otherwise doing peculiar things, we have the curious case of Tommy Hawk.
The ill-tempered Mr Hawk does his mascoting for the Chicago Blackhawks, a team currently caught in some sort of death spiral.
Perhaps it's the state of the team that's put Tommy in a foul mood, but our fine feathered friend was rather salty this past Friday night at the United Center.
Obviously, the Blackhawks lost the game, this time falling 4-3 in OT to the Winnipeg Jets.
Afterwards, Tommy was apparently confronted by a Chicago fan, who for whatever reason decided to take out his frustrations on our hero.
Fortunately, a diligent onlooker captured the ornithological fun while giggling through the entire episode:

Clearly, whoever or whatever resides inside that suit has been schooled in the finer points of hand-to-hand combat, as that was a thorough beatdown.
As of this writing, it's unclear if Tommy or the Blackhawks are liable for any physical or emotional damages sustained by the horribly misguided fan.
Unfortunately, bird law statutes in this country are still fairly vague and underdeveloped on this subject.
Perhaps the most surprising element of this story would be that Griity wasn't attacked.
It's only a matter of time, though.
