NFL Notices Something's Amiss Out There; Decides to Close Teams' Facilities

Every now and then, it's good to look up from whatever self-indulgence is occupying your time at the moment.

In fact, no less than those suits at The Shield's world headquarters did just that.

Fresh off their sealing the deal on a Collective Bargaining Agreement that'll ensure labor peace until such time that all vehicles are electric, visiting Miami Beach will require snorkels, and the Paris fashion houses will show off their new collections of n95s, they musta taken a second to look out upon the great unwashed and observed ...

Could it be that the citizenry was pre-occupied with something other than them?

Was that even possible?

As the reality began to dawn on them that the dude who flew into Seattle from Wuhan had started a trend in the USA, that maybe the Commish's good friend, the Prez, mighta got things wrong and everyone was getting in on the action.

Surely, there was only one thing for The Shield to do.

Now that all the other sports had shot their wad, it was time for the Big Dog to take center stage all by itself. After all, who was gonna take Covid-19 seriously until the NFL weighed in on the topic?

And so it was that the Commish did the done thing and told his 32-member cabal to send their worker bees home because he was ordering their offices and training facilities to cool it for a couple of weeks.

May as well. Nada's happening that can't happen at home. But let's not get carried away, here. Can't have the tail wagging the dog, now, can we?

Especially when the specter of rebating a sliver of its media rights deal might come up if the NFL postpones the 2020 Draft.

So what's the NFL gonna do about it?

Being real, it's kinda obvious OGs are waiting for a moment when they can say the Draft is happening when they scheduled it to happen.

Banning the fans won't matter -- and who's gonna miss that Jets contingent, anyway? -- because this is about the TV and streaming production.

They can always find another way to ask a prospect if his mom's on the game.

So get ready to discover if there will be great moments in social distancing.

Pandemic or not, there's no question about the 2020 Draft going down at the stated bat-time on the scheduled bat-channels.

All that's missing is the NFL making it official.

And the Commish will.
