Wozniacki Bugged to Be Ousted Outta Wimbledon

Who knows what leads bar conversations to weird topics, but one of them found a proper OG Englishman to mention to a foreign colleague that one should never wear pastel colors to a cricket match.

It attracts the bugs.

This was later proven when said foreigner mentioned it to a matronly English lady in a light yellow sweater who was being bombarded by insects.

Her expression that a non-English accent would lend advice at a cricket match was only bettered by her astonishment that it worked.

Who knows? Maybe Caroline Wozniacki's long blonde hair looked pastel enough for a swarm of flying ants passing through London's SW19.

If so, her locks were too long to cover up.

What's more, who knows what this annoyance did to the No 2 seed's concentration?

Whether it was a factor or not, Wozniacki was unceremoniously consigned to wherever she won't be bugged by flying ants for the rest of the Wimbledon fortnight.

English beaches, for example. If there was ever a time of the year, this is it.

Unseeded Ekaterina Makarova took the match in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, which was one of the day's bigger happenings.

Wozniacki has shown she can win a Slam, at least, as long as it's one in Australia.

Here in England, it's a different story. The Dane has never advanced past the Round of 16.

In this one, she was down 5-1 in the third set before scrambling back into it, saving four match points at 5-3. However, Makarova put paid to the charge, breaking Wozniacki in the final game.

Seems like she was more bugged by her Russian opponent than she was the ants, claiming that Makarova got lucky and wouldn't last too long.

Maybe so, but she got to a point that Wozniacki's never been.
