Swansea Surprises Another Big Brand Premiership Side

After taking down Liverpool last week, lowly Swansea must've thought that would be their one shining moment this season.

They could be excused for thinking that.

It's what teams sitting firmly in the relegation zone usually do.

Full marks, then, to the Swans for putting survival above fond memories.

Who knew they'd be stalking Arsenal next?

The Gunners no doubt came cruising into southeast Wales figuring to grab three points from among the sheep and leeks, but it was not to be.

Swansea City rose up yet again and registered a second major upset, sending Arsène Wenger & Co home empty-handed after putting the pins in a 3-1 victory.

No one was wondering that to start, because Nacho Monreal nailed home a wonderful half-volley to open the goal gates in the 33rd minute:

However, dropping a hint that this would be a different sorta match, Swans had their reply ready via Sam Clusas, as the equalizer came in just a minute afterward:

It all went downhill from there for Arsenal, as veteran keeper Petr Čech made a horrendous clearance which wound up feeding Swansea’s Jordan  Ayew.

Swans still kept pushing the Gunner defense and closed out the match with Clucas’s 85th minute goal:

Arsenal, of course, may rue this day sooner rather than later.

They needed this result to stay within a one-match launching distance of gaining a spot in Europe:

Swans, though, really needed those points.

Living to fight another day is a thing with them right now.
