Real Madrid Surprised by Celta de Vigo

Although it can seem like Barcelona and Real Madrid clash every other week, they actually do take time to tolerate other clubs.

Mainly because that's how league schedules work.

Fans seemingly expect those two to prevail against the minnows, especially, and they usually do.

However, every once in a while, one of those minnows bites back.

By any measure, Celta de Vigo is a minnow.

The Célticos -- lotsa history with Celts in what's now Spain -- have been a mid-table stalwart since returning to La Liga in 2012, and visits from a big club damn near becomes a local holiday.

They ran into a feisty crew of home boys, though, and only managed a 2-2 draw.

Real is in deep seas now. Barcelona is playing the football of its life, and Los Vikingos -- history again; those Northmen were everywhere back in the day -- can’t seem to keep pace.

The versatility and accuracy of his left foot and along with his pace is what got him to Real Madrid.

Bale’s primary weapon came to the rescue yet again when he redirected a second strike for the lead:

Normally, that would've meant all three points in the bag, but poor defense cost them yet again:

Maxi Gómez sure knows how to use his head.

Dude was so open, he could've been lonely.
