Manchester City in Danger of Becoming Title-Chase Roadkill

The two-way race for the Premiership title may now be a one-horse show.

Manchester City should have dominated Burnley but instead got a taste of humiliation from the Clarets.

To everyone’s surprise -- and the bookmakers' delight -- the lesser Lancashire side defeated the Citizens, 1-0, which could have been a severe title blow for the defending champs had Chelsea not drawn with the Saints yesterday.

It's been tough for the Premier League teams to keep up with Chelsea this season. City looked to be the only dog in the hunt against the mighty Blues, but consistency matters, and that's exactly what they are not.

The only goal of this game came through a stunning half volley from Boyd ... George Boyd:

'Twas a truly smashing assist from the City's captain, Vincent Kompany, and when you hit it low and hard like that, you usually score. This wasn't the first time Kompany would've liked a mulligan, either.

Looks like Burnley have finally figured out the simple numbers game. No matter how many shots they hit, no matter how many passes they make, and no matter how many chances they create, you only have to beat them in one stat. That would be goals.

City may want to take some lessons from the underdogs the next time around.
