Manchester City Are Back on Top
After a humiliating thumping by Liverpool, Manchester City has risen from the ashes.
Relatively speaking, of course.
Think of those ashes as in money to burn, what with the dosh the Sheikh splashes around ever since he assumed the helm of HMS Citizens.
That erstwhile crew convincingly defeated Southampton, 3-1, to retain its top spot.
It was all too easy for Manchester City as the show got on the road:
Piercing the defense was as easy as drawing a hot knife through butter.
Everything was going City’s way when a second came in quick succession:
You know it's your day when shots like those turn into goals, and Fabian Delph will definitely take it.
The Saints were finally able to reply with this little number from Shane Long:
Manchester City has still never learned to defend set pieces.
Other than that, though, they played the Saints like playground marks.
That is as good as it gets where volleys are concerned.
