Liverpool's Promising Season Was Not Meant to Be

The hunt for glory in Premiership play was already long gone for Liverpool this season, but they still had hope in the FA Cup.

Well, that was snatched away by Aston Villa as the Reds' trophy dreams were derailed, 2-1, at Wembley stadium.

And to think the ‘Pool was once glad they drew the Villains in the semis.

Ironically, the Reds were first on the board:

Philippe Coutinho looked like a yellow Flash out there.

That must've had Brendan Rodgers thinking his job was safe for the immediate future, but then again, immediate can be a relative term.

Case in point: Aston Villa equalized soon thereafter:

If Coutinho moved like the Flash before, the Villains moved like the Justice League:

Damn! Ever wonder who has to clean all that stuff up?

Anyway, speaking of anesthetizing oneself, the 'Pool did a decent version of that, too, when the Villains wrapped it all up by the diminutive Fabian Delph making use of his small size and sneaking one home through Simon MIgnolet:

So there's frustration on Merseyside. The Liverpool board's being diplomatic for now, but ultimately, this may be the beginning of the end for Brenden Rodgers.
