Jawohl! Green did player for the German national U16 and U17 teams.

During his playing days for FC Bayern München and German national team luminary Jürgen Klinsmann was world class.

He's getting there as a coach on the world stage, and he may already be there as a recruiter.

Luring 18-year-old phenom Julian Green to the USA national team is a major coup. Especially when Green's alternative was perennial powerhouse Germany.

The kid is already a highlight film in progress:

Klinsmann was on Green's trail for some time. He clearly said and did all the right things. Here are his comments earlier this month, when a cursory read between the lines reveals the wily coach already knew his mission was accomplished:

Green has filed the pertinent papers with FIFA to make his commitment official and has already received permission from FC Bayern to join the USA for its friendly with Mexico on Wed 2 April.

Both the coach and young player speak in reserved tones about Green's prospects of making an appearance at the World Cup. Yeah, right. The kid's scoring goals for FC Bayern! Of course he'll be playing in Brazil!
