FC Bayern Edges into the Champions League Semi-Finals

It was considered a given that perennial Bundesliga titles Bayern Munich would be a shoo-in to keep their quest for international hardware intact.

The German dynamo ran into more resistance than they or the pundits expected, but they managed a 2-2 draw in Lisbon over Benfica, advancing on their 3-2 aggregate.

Die Stern des Süden can only hope this was their token close call that serves as a wake-up call.

The alarm started ringing 27 minutes into it when Benfica struck with an effort that was a real treat to the eye:
