Chelsea Gets Whacked at the Palace

One would think that the reigning champions would have no trouble casting the Premiership's bottom feeders aside.

The fact it doesn't happen all the time is proof positive that players aren't robots.

Reigning champion Chelsea got shocked by doormat Crystal Palace, 2-1.

That's right, the lowly Eagles. If they were any more lowly, they'd be in the next tier down .

What's more, that was Palace's first win of the season.

Really.

The faithful at Selhurst Park in South London had seen the Eagles' cheeky little plays before. They'd just never seen them finish.

Perhaps they've just been missing Chelsea’s César Azpilicueta all season.

And for the first eleven minutes into this match.

Believe it or not, eight matches into the 2017-2018 campaign, this was Palace's first goal of the season.

Really.

That accidental lead didn't last long, though.

For a fleeting moment -- seven minutes later, to be exact -- Chelsea realized who they were and bounced back from Tiémoué Bakayoko’s header:

The Blues literally bounced their way to a stalemate.

Seems like blonds do have more fun. Even the fake ones.

Chelsea found itself on the back foot yet again just before intermission when the lovely and talented Wilfried Zaha popped what turned out to be the decider:

An Ivory Coast international, dude was once picked up by Manchester United.

Another run like that, and he may be picked up by the Dallas Cowboys if the NFL's suspension of Zeke Elliott ever sticks.

Come to think of it, the Eagles could probably use Elliott.

These Eagles.

Not Philadelphia's.

Kidding.
