Just Say No: Florida's Tim Thomas Bobblehead Night Is a Head Shaker

The Florida Panthers went ahead with their Tim Thomas bobblehead night Sunday, despite having traded the 39-year-old goalie to the Dallas Stars at the deadline.

The giveaway did require a key modification, though.

"It shakes its head instead of nodding," said one of the Panthers' resident marketing geniuses prior to the game. "We figured it was an appropriate change, given Tim's gleeful getaway.

"In fact, at the request of the remaining roster, we're intending to implement the head shake for all our future bobblers.

"Makes sense when you think about it. As a Stanley Cup destination, we're about as popular as a Tim Thomas friend request."

Given his fulfilled desperate desire to return to Sunshine, Roberto Luongo's bobblehead would still nod, yes?

"Absolutely. We're working on a way to make it fist pump and salivate. Maybe even develop an erection."

The Panthers did hand out Luongo posters on top of the Thomas bobbleheads Sunday. As far as we can make out, the five-hole appears unfettered for now.
