The Baptism of Jared Goff

The Jared Goff revolution is about to commence ... finally.

The No 1 overall pick for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2016 NFL draft is at long last going to take snaps in a meaningful game, and not a moment to soon.

For whatever reason, the Rams continued to play QB Case Keenum for more than half the season, but he's now mercifully been benched in favor of the kid.

The rookie has a nice pedigree and all of the physical tools that cause scouts to drool helplessly all over one another.

Goff enjoyed a nice collegiate run in Berkeley, putting up some pretty sweet numbers. While the Golden Bears didn't exactly blow up any skirts with their overall record, the kid prospered nonetheless.

Despite all the good will and cheer, Goff was deemed unfit to serve as opening day starter, so forever overrated head coach Jeff Fisher went with his best option, which inexplicably turned out to be the aforementioned Case Keenum.

The Rams currently sit at a mediocre 4-5, which puts them in the midst of the wildcard discussion. They have compiled this record despite an offense that could and has frightened small children.

Whether Goff is ready to play or not is irrelevant at this point. The gig is his now, for good or ill.

In addition, there is added pressure on the dude because of the early success enjoyed by Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz.

Good luck kid.

You'll no doubt need it.
