The Aaron Hernandez CTE Scan Results Are Appalling

First of all, there is no excuse for murder.

Autopsy results may reveal biological reasons, but medical researchers have yet to draw a direct correlation between physical malaise and extreme behavioral tendencies such as arbitrarily killing someone.

However, the medical revelations of the late Aaron Hernandez' brain at the time of his suicide in prison are nothing short of shocking.

On 19 April of this year, five days after he was acquitted of two murders -- but not of victim Odin Lloyd -- the 27-year-old Hernandez hanged himself in his jail cell.

The extent of his physical state was first announced in September:

This week, at a medical conference in Boston, Dr Ann McKee -- director of the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center and chief of neuropathology for the VA Boston healthcare system -- revealed details as to just how badly the former Florida Gator and New England Patriot tight end's brain had been eaten away by the disease:

That a relatively young brain can deteriorate so drastically is beyond a concern.

It's more grist for the mill that has begun turning young athletes away from the sport in numbers that keep increasing.

If ever it was clear that technique and technology needs to acclerate its progress.

Meanwhile, the NFL continues to spend a few million dollars in legal fees to defend an arbitrary decision by The Commish.

Of course, for a kajillion-dollar operation, that just mad money.

Really mad.
