NFL Slams Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship

The NFL is pretty sensitive about the whole organized gambling thing.

The Shield and its ardent defender Roger Goodell have gone to great lengths to stay off this slippery slope.

So it stands to reason that the league would frown upon current players participating in an arm wrestling competition at a Las Vegas casino.

Ruh roh!

Apparently, something called The Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship was staged at the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas just this past week.

It appears the field consisted entirely of both current and former NFL players.

Those involved reportedly included the artist formerly known as Marshawn Lynch and current Steelers linebacker James Harrison, among many others.

In fact, the fun-loving Harrison even promoted the event on the Twitter:

It's looks like Harrison and Beast Mode were collaborating as well:

The mere sight of those two dudes together is disturbing and exhilarating all at once.

Of course, the gospel according to Goodell includes a rigid gambling policy, and the league was quick to point out that a promotional appearance at a casino would fall under that oppressive umbrella.

The NFL is claiming it knew nothing of the event, so they're diligently bringing down the hammer.

In the meantime, it's nice that the world of competitive arm wrestling is finally getting some much deserved recognition.
