Farmer Jones and the Pot Almanac

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has always been a polarizing figure.

However, this master of the universe does hold an awful lot of sway over NFL doings.

The question of marijuana use and policy in the NFL has become a popular topic of conversation.

And wouldn't you know it, the OG is actually on the progressive side of this particular issue.

Last week at the annual NFL league meetings, Jones reportedly met with the other owners privately to discuss the league policy on pot use by players.

It appears if dude has his way, the league will no longer prohibit the use of said drug.

In regard to this issue, public sentiment and many states already side with Mr Jones.

Everything was trending in the direction of decriminalization until Jeff Sessions showed up as the Attorney General, but other than that little hiccup, it seems likely that professional sports leagues will eventually follow the masses.

Of course, there are several Cowboys players who would be directly impacted by such a change.

The NFL and Jones had a virtual tizzy when Zeke Elliott visited that legal marijuana dispensary in Seattle.

Defensive end Randy Gregory has obviously had his issues, as well, and is currently looking at a year-long suspension for the upcoming season.

The policy can't be changed without collective bargaining, anyway, so it will take a while.

In the meantime, Puff would like a word.
