Dez Gonna Dez

Dez Bryant is an amazing wide receiver.

No one will argue that he's one of the best in the league.

And very few will dispute the fact that he should be right up there with Tony Romo as a highly-paid performer.

However, Dez Bryant is also an incredibly immature person.

He's so immature that, in 2012, the Cowboys had to create a series of guidelines for him to follow.  

Some of the noteworthy points include a midnight curfew, a ban on going to strip clubs, and the requirement of a rotating security team where one member must be with him at all times. A whole two years later, Dez Bryant, a 25-year-old man, is still bound by these rules.

The most mature thing Dez Bryant may have done is agree to these guidelines, as -- at the very least -- self-awareness of his behavior.

However, immature Dez can’t seem to get out of his own way.

Dude may have been recently franchised by the Cowboys, but he's still threatened to sit out the first week of the season if he doesn’t get a long-term deal. Not the first week of OTA’s. Not the first pre-season game. Dez is legit threating to sit out Week 1 of the regular season.

It’s common for disgruntled NFL players to hold out during the preseason. Just ask Darrelle Revis.

But to sit out an actual regular season game is just crazy. That’s like getting into an argument with your parents and threating to run away … to outer space.

I can’t blame Bryant for threating to hold out. It's the only real option for players to obtain a new contract. But Dez may have bit off more than he can chew with this threat.

It is hard to believe that a player who only made $1.78 million last year would give up his Week 1 game check, worth about $770,000, for the sake of a long-term deal. But you never know what you're gonna get when Dez Bryant is involved.

In the end, the Cowboys and their franchise player will most likely get a long-term contract done, but not before Dez has made sure to whine and complain like the immature person he is.
