A Roadrunner Mismatch

This may not be a marquée game on the Saturday college football slate, but sometimes that's where you can find a steal.

And that's just what there is in the Texas-San Antonio game with UTEP.

Bettors have caught on to this weak number for days, driving it from around a pick'em to Bovada's current number that has UTSA favored by 3. I still don't think that's enough.

The Roadrunners are coached by Larry Coker, who had a previous stint with the Miami Hurricanes. New to Conference USA this season, their enrollment is 30,000 and they play in the Alamodome, so UTSA could be a program to watch in the coming years.

Check out the Bovada data tool on the Home page and you'll see UTSA is 2-0-1 against the number this season, and that's including match-ups with Oklahoma State and Arizona.

UTEP, on the other hand, has played both big schools from New Mexico (and neither are very good), and split them. In fact, UTSA's win is over New Mexico and that's who UTEP has lost to.

UTSA has flown under the radar for a while now, at 4-0-1 against the number in their last 5 games and 6-1-1 in their last eight on the road. They've faced much tougher competition than UTEP has and that will pay off with a convincing road win tonight.

My pick:  UTSA   +3

UPDATE:

Result ... UTSA 32 UTEP 13     Roadrunners cover
