Upset Bug Bites Three AP Top Ten Teams

This year's race to the Final Four could be even more chaotic than usual.

Traditional blue-blood basketball programs are fumbling around for the consistency they've come to expect, but it's just not there.

Currently, there's a trio of teams that appear to stand above the fray -- Villanova, Virginia, and Purdue -- but at the rat top clubs are being whacked, who knows if they're next?

Saturday didn't quite go as planned for three others, all of whom have some serious flaw-fixing to do if they're gonna receive favorable paths to the season's ultimate weekend.

So far, whatever they've tried hasn't worked.

Duke still can't play top-caliber defense.

The Blue Devils aren't lacking for talent, but their fundamental deficiencies have gotta be driving Mike Krzyzewski bonkers.

Look no further to understand how St John's de-horned 'em in the Garden:

Maybe Duke's fabulous one-&-done crew figures they can skate through a freshman season and wait for their number to be called in this spring's draft, where they assume they can be defense-optional again.

Then there's Kansas, who think they're the Dubs.

Incredibly, the school whose program was developed by Dr Naismith hizzownself and is the alma mater of Wilt Chamberlain seems to have forgotten its inside game.

Oklahoma State ventured up to Lawrence and shocked the Jayhawks, 84-79:

It could well be that Bill Self needs to re-evaluate his recruiting priorities. Having a full roster of healthy and eligible players goes a long way these days.

Arizona could just possibly rival Duke for top individual skillsets on its roster. Maybe getting caught in the FBI recruiting sting still lingers, which wouldn't be a surprise.

The Wildcats looked shaky in the Bahamas but seeminly recovered. They laid an egg in Colorado and showed the same rudderless tendencies that they did in the Caribbean, in spite of Sean Miller's strong credentials.

Arizona rarely showed a creative thought against Washington's 2-3 Syracuse zone and put themselves in position to get buzzered, which happened:

There's a month to go, but suddenly, the Huskies are in bracket conversations.

Arizona, Kansas, and Duke are more concerned about where they'll be in the bracket.

However, based on recent performances, their questions could well be more along the lines of how long they'll last in it.
