It's Not Easy for NBA Teams to Screw Up a 27-Point Lead

The playoff race is heating up, and New York fans are breathless with anticipation.

Will they get to see a series live and in person this season?

As usual, their hopes rest on the shoulders of one team:

The Rangers.

Every February, that's the story for the denizens of Madison Square Garden. The Blueshirts keep trying to recapture the magic of their 2014 Stanley Cup run, while the Knicks are just trying.

Very trying.

Take tonight's game with the Washington Wizards. As Henny Youngman used to say, Please!

Tim Hardaway had a clue for a while in this one, 37 points' worth on 14-24 shooting. Enes Kanter chipped in 24 with a 9-15 night.

But Hardaway managed only five of his points after the half. Just one reason why the Knickerbockers squandered a 27-point lead and lost their eighth straight game, 118-113:

Face it, dudes are turning gross incompetence into a life skill.

And there's no end in sight.

Maybe that's why Kanter is auditioning for the Rangers, and doing a hell of a job at it:

Zdeno Chara would be proud.

Much prouder than the Knicks are gonna be at any time in the foreseeable future.
