Dwyane Wade Chooses to Retire in Cavaliers' Rotation

We're all gonna go out some day.

What better way to do it on our own terms, surrounded by friends?

And why not have one of them be the ultimate A-lister?

35-year-old Dwyane Wade -- Marquette's most recent gift to the NBA -- made it so:

  • Dude tossed $8million back on the Chicago Bulls' table to complete a buyout of the $23.8million remaining on his contract, and
  • Accepted a one-year deal from the Cleveland Cavaliers for the $2.3million remaining in their cap space.

This means that he and LeBron James can now sit together again, warm their bones beside the fire, and reminisce about the good old days, winning ...

Actually, it was two.

So now, the OGs have a shot at making three a reality.

James will do his usual soup-to-nuts chores for the team -- you know, scoring, passing, running the front office -- and Wade will press pause on his Solitaire app to contribute a few minutes here and there to -- who knows? -- maybe win a game ... or two.

OK, climbing stuff might be a bit much anymore, but winning does have a way of rejuvenating the soul.

That's where Isaiah Thomas can help to double down on an old soldier's dreams. If and when.

For now, though, the Cavs can summarily slash some poor dude from their training camp roster to make room for Wade, and then slash someone else when the green flag drops. Because that's the nature of the biz.

Except for some who can go out on their own terms.
