Djokovic Sweeps del Potro in Drama-Free US Open Title Match

At given times, what's the safest airline to fly?

The one that's just had a crash. You know their personnel are gonna be super-picky about every precaution.

For the record, Novak Djokovic has had a few racquet-smashing tantrums in his career, but there was no way another one would be added to his résumé a day after the turbulent women's final.

Then again, dude had absolutely no need, cruising to a straight-set 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 disassembly of Juan Martín del Potro's game.

The 31-year-old Serb has now claimed two Slams in a row, coming off his victory at Wimbledon.

It raises his Slam title count to 14, equalling Pete Sampras. Only Roger Federer (20) and Rafael Nadal (17) have more.

Del Potro was making his first appearance in a Slam final since winning this event back in 2009. A frustrating series of wrist injuries behind him, the Argentine was counting on a hot serve to see him through.

Djokovic, though, stifled most of them with methodical returns, and that was that.

Dudes are best buds, but del Potro still took this one pretty hard. It'd been a long climb back, but it was clear to see he still has a 'ways to go.

The key will be staying healthy enough to mount another charge.
