Man United, Valencia Treat Old Trafford to an Always Thrilling 0-0 Draw

Well, wasn't that a barrel of laughs?

Not even the return of Alexis Sánchez and Marcus Rashford could shake Manchester United out of its offensive doldrums.

But why would they? Dudes had been dropped for a reason.

And nothing says offensive doldrums quite like a scoreless draw. Valencia took that result and ran.

 

The best that can be said for United is they showed effort.

But the quality wasn't there. For a roster and payroll like theirs, that's inexcusable.

The questions it begs are these:

• Was José Mourinho responsible for the early-match energy, meaning he actually got the lads playing for him?
• With that much talent, is this the best he can do with it?

 

Kinda getting that way.

David de Gea got a bitta business, but nothing overly dramatic. Valencia's best opportunities came via Michy Batshuayi and Goncalo Guedes, but for naught.

Ditto for Romelu Lukaku who curled a fair attempt in the 71st minute, but Neto was up to the task.

Otherwise ...
