Tottenham Touches Up Huddersfield, Reaches Top Four
It's now seven matches into the Premiership season, and its doormat has yet to record a victory.
Which, of course, is why Huddersfield is the doormat.
Standing at 0-2-5 with a goal differential of -13 already means they're a side that other sides can't wait to meet.
No doubt, then, Tottenham Hotspur will have the league's schedulers high on their holiday greetings list. Dudes smacked the Terriers around with a 2-0 result that was registered intermission and could've easily been doubled in the final 45.
Barely.
Even with 'keeper Hugo Lloris cooling his jets at home along with midfielders Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, Spurs waltzed their way through the afternoon.
Korean international Heung-Min Son made his return to action, though, in what served as a run-out to shake off a bitta rust.
With Huddersfield meandering aimlessly around midfield, Tottenham had plenty of space to operate. In the 25th minute, they launched a counter-attack through Lucas Moura, who dished over to Kieran Trippier. The English right back delivered a solid cross to Harry Kane, who sent a strong header to the lower left corner:
In the 28th, Terence Kongolo got dinged up and had to be subbed off for Florent Hadergjonaj.
Four minutes later, the Swiss right-back brought Danny Rose down inside the area. Penalty to Tottenham. HarryKane time.
The striker had zero problem sending Jonas Lössl the wrong way:
The second half was, for all intents and purposes, a stroll.
Since it was Spurs, a luxury stroll.
Dudes gave a bitta work to the Terrers' Argentine 'keeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, but they seemed to be saving energy for their midweek Champions League clash with Barcelona at Wembley.
Huddersfield, meanwhile, will continue their task of trying to figure out how to get into the win column.
