Pogba Shines Again; United Top Chelsea 0-2 in the FA Cup

Maurizio Sarri's feeling serious heat at Stamford Bridge right now, and it's not from letting his cigarette burn down into his fingers.

Chelsea's dropped five of their last ten matches, and for an English big brand, that just won't do.

Especially when one of their conquerors happens to be Bournemouth.

Not to dump on the Cherries or anything, but there's apparently an unwritten code. Premiership giants do not get buried by a field club.

In this FA Cup fifth-round clash, both the Blues and Manchester United were coming off in other competitions. The Red Devils, though, haven't lost their swagger.

Chelsea, meanwhile, seem to have lost their fans. The chorus they rained down on Sarri was he'd be sacked in the morning.

Awkward.

Chelsea actually had the run of play here, threatening Sergio Romero through David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuaín, but both wasted their opportunities.

Ominously, though, the visitors grew into the game, ultimately breking the deadlock in the 30th minute through Ander Herrera

French International Paul Pogba controlled a spiffy pass from Romelu Lukaku on the left wing, and dude and superbly crossed it to the unmarked Herrera. Butter:

Being a goal down at home in a knockout game, the Blues opened up, but all that did was concede too much space to United.

The Devils capitalized, with the beyond-hot Pogba again setting the table and then cleaning it up.

He  was the architect of the play, passing to Marcus Rashford, who crossed it back, allowing the dude who's become United's heart and soul to head home past Kepa Arrizabalaga:

Chelsea continued to force an attack, but the term outta synch paired with confidence crisis to put paid to the Blues' efforts at getting a result.

United followed up by avoiding a sixth-round meeting with Manchester City:

  • Swansea City v Manchester City
  • Watford v Crystal Palace
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester United
  • Millwall v Brighton & Hove Albion

The chalk says that sooner or later, that's gonna happen. Kinda like Sarri hitting the bricks.
