Manchester United Takes the Fulham 3-Point Lay-Up

The late NFL commish Pete Rozelle was fond of describing his league with the old quote that anything could happen on any given Sunday.

However, it's Saturday.

Furthermore, Manchester United and Fulham aren't in the NFL.

The way it's going for the Cottagers, they're not gonna be long for the Premiership, either.

José Mourinho's side, meanwhile, had to be ringing this one up before they even put on their boots.

Gaining three points against the team propping up the entire Premiership is a requirement, not an option.

The Devils didn't waste any time, either. It only took them a mere 12 minutes to get on the board.

Marcus Rashford found Ashley Young after a sustained attack, and the 33-year-old -- after trying to nutmeg Denis Odoi -- dribbled around him and drilled it into the top right corner:

This left plenty of time for lotsa goals, which was United's order of the day.

In the 28th minute, Romelu Lukaku spotted Rashford dashing into the box on the left, and he in turn spied Juan Mata, who finished:

Now, that's entertainment.

If you're a Devil fan, that is.

Yes, it's one of those matches.

Before the end of the first half, United scored again, this time with Lukaku, who was a perfect No 9 and gave no chance to Sergio Rico:

All that was missing was Fulham's lovely parting gift.

Fittingly, it came in the 67th minute, when Ander Herrera brought Aboubakar Kamara down inside the box. Dude duly went to the spot and sent David de Gea the wrong way:

Dude ...

One minute after getting that nicety outta the way, Fulham lost a player when André Zambo Anguissa received a red card fueled by frustration.

His teammates surely sympathized, but after that, they really were in the barrel.

The Cottagers held out until the 82nd minute. After dishing out a pair of assists, Rashford finally scored his goal with a strong shot from outside the box:

United made short work of Fulham's long day.

Suffice to say that, Premiership-wise, the Cottagers are in deep, deep doo-doo.
