Harry Wilson Goes Long Distance Again, but It's Man City That Goes the Distance

Who knew an agate-type sorta transaction could be a windfall for the Cherries.

Liverpool sent Harry Wilson to Bournemouth on loan just before the season, solving an immediate need for manager Eddie Howe after he lost David Brooks for at least three months due to an ankle injury.

Wilson's the master of goals scored outside the box. In fact, no one in England's four top divisions has drilled more than the Welsh winger.

Dude did it again against Manchester City, and while it was worth the price of admission, it wasn't enough to keep the reigning Premiership champions from a 1-3 victory at Dean Court.

 

Following a frustrating draw at home, Pep Guardiola's side imposed themselves upon Bournemoouth and grabbed an important early-season victory. Sergio Agüero popped a pair and Raheem Sterling did the honors to counter Wilson's blast.

City opened the scoring around the quarter-hour mark through the Argentine international. Oleksandr Zinchenko sprinted down the left side and rolled it to Kevin de Bruyne inside the box. The Belgian midfielder tried to shoot, but his effort ended up being an assist to Agüero:

 

On 43 minutes, David Silva found Sterling infiltrating the area and hit him with a clever pass.

The Englishman did the settle-&-smash thing, and for all intents and purposes, figured he'd sealed the deal for City before the break:

 

Turns out he did, but it wasn't that certain after Wilson unloaded with one of his sublime free kicks from the next postal code.

Dude curled it home into the top corner in the third minute of time added on:

 

 

At the very least, dude sent a buzz through the crowd through intermission.

However, Agüero, on 64 mins, put the pins in the Citizens' three-point outing when he capitalized on a David Silva helper:

 

So, no real surprises on the day. City got what they expected, and so did Howe with Wilson's gem.

Odds are he's now raised the level of anticipation among fans on the South Coast. The Cherries' home matches might now be a hotter ticket than usual.
