HarryKane Watch Continues While Spurs Sink Man City

It didn't take long for the mass trash that football fans so famously spew to zero in from the visitors' section at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harry Kane, he wants to be blue!

Maybe so, but he probably saw enough on the pitch in this match to wonder if rescinding his demand to leave might be worth considering.

Probably right.

One doesn't simmer all during the Premiership's off-season because the club hasn't been keen on the notion and then suddenly have a change of heart.

Kane's gone if Manchester City can ever meet Spurs chairman David Levy's price.

The Citizens coulda used him in this one, too. Pep Guardiola is just possibly the best club manager on the planet, but he could only gaze in frustration as Spurs stymied City's every move and then countered with reckless abandon.

That included the game's only goal:

A quick build-up capped by a brilliant move and strike by South Korean international Son Heung-min, who was bloody everywhere because Tottenham's attack was always a moment away.

Dude's labored in Kane's shadow since he arrived at the club, and his body of work -- including Kane's spells on the injured list -- has consistently shown he's up for the challenge of being a top target man.

So Spurs will be the hunt for a Champions League berth with a strong shout, and their unheralded, first-year manager may actually be the main reason why.

Nuno Espírito Santo wasn't the board's first choice, and judging from the lunch-bucket approach he took while guiding Wolverhampton, it was a bit of a surprise that he landed the Tottenham gig. It may have even been his appointment that helped convince Kane to want out. The striker's never been on a team that's won a trophy, and he likely didn't see Spurs turning into Wolves South as a way to claim one.

Dude may be an elite player, but he's got a ways to go in spotting managerial talent. Remember, he was a huge advocate of José Mourinho taking the reins in North London when anyone with a clue about the Spurs' DNA should have known better.

At least that train wreck didn't put Levy off of Portuguese managers. Looks like he got second-time lucky with Espírito Santo.

Not that City was firing on all cylinders offensively -- being real, they haven't done so at Tottenham in years -- but the homeboys were more than adequate in their own end and pure Spurs on the attack.

Japhet Tanganga and Lucas Moura were rock-solid all day, something that also didn't go unnoticed in the stands. This pair may be the key to Nuno's success over the course of this campaign, allowing the side to keep unleashing their offense and capitalizing on the potency of Son & Co.

Whether or not that includes the HarryKane.

Obviously, one match does not a season make, but this side was the Spurs their supporters pay to see.

And to sing little trash tunes like ...

Are you watching Harry Kane?

Sounds like, in light of their team's performance against a side like City, they've moved on, too.
