Gunners Still Hanging in Third Place

Olivier Giroud was l'Homme du Match as Arsenal bagged trois points in their 1-2 result at St James's Park.

In other words, Arsène Wenger's own personal French Connection got the job done in Geordie-land.

The Gunners' recent rotten run finally hit the skids in Newcastle. This means they're still hanging in there for a spot in the Champions League. With Chelsea tightening their grip on Premiership hardware, spots in Europe are basically what the race has been about.

Giroud was the scoring for Arsenal. Here's his opening salvo in lovely two-dimensional sensurround:

Giroud then haunted the Magpies from a set piece:

Newcastle showed their own crossing expertise, as they pulled one back early in the second half.

But the Magpies weren't able to pull a Chelsea again.

Now, the Gunners can  dream again.
