Everton Tumbles under Burnley Pressure
Everton seemed to have finally cracked the code to consistently beating the Premiership's mediocre teams.
Then, along came Burnley.
The Clarets are no great shakes at home -- going 5-4-5 at Turf Moor isn't going to instill fear in many visitors' hearts -- but dudes had enough in them to bounce back from behind and bop the Blues, 2-1.
The loss leaves Everton with the second-worst road record in the league, a paltry 1-5-9.
Given the Blues' hot start, this one should've had Evertonian win written all over it.
Brilliant teamwork culminated in a beautiful combination of plays that led to Cenk Tosun scoring in the 20th minute:
Still, not for nothing are the Clarets are sitting higher in the table.
This point was confirmed five minutes after the intermission when Ashley Barnes strolled right through the Everton defense and scored a screamer:
It takes work for a mid-table side to notch only one Premiership win by this point in the season.
Everton thus gave a classic example of how they've done it by counting the house while Chris Wood used his head in the 80th minute to put paid to the match:
