Burnley’s Feisty, but Man Utd's on Target

The Clarets came thisclose to pulling an upset.

For two seasons now, Burnley's been making noise upon its return to the Premiership.

It's as if the ghosts from their long-ago glory days have returned to guide them.

So much so that the X-Files should take note.

Manchester United must've been wondering the same when they came to Turf Moor this weekend.

The Clarets spent the entire match giving as good as they got but couldn't match the Red Devils' lone strike that found its mark to emerge with a 0-1 victory.

This match was another case where the scoreline didn't tell the entire story.

  • Possession was roughly even, with United only gaining a 52%-48% edge,
  • The Clarets outshot the Devils, 11-6, and
  • They also put one more attempt on target, 3-2.

However, as they say, only one stat counts.

The pendulum of the match could've thus swung in either direction, but thanks to Anthony Martial’s calm and composed finish in the 54th minute, United walked away with all three points:

Dude was once the most expensive teenager on the transfer market, and despite maintaining a low-key, workmanlike profile with United, dude's proving once again to be worth every penny.
