Abraham Scores Again as Chelsea Stop Southampton

It's rather pleasant to visit the South Coast this time of year, and a daytrip to Vitality Stadium set well with Chelsea.

Led by their suddenly productive youth brigade -- so productive, in fact, that Chrisitan Pulisic can't find a way to break into their Starting XI -- the Blues grabbed a solid and important 1-4 victory over Southampton.

Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, N'golo Kanté, and Michy Batshuayi scored for the visitors, while Danny Ings rang one up for the hosts, but it clearly wasn't enough.

The Saints actually came outta the gates looking like the brightest side, but it was Chelsea who opened the scoring.

In the 17th minute, Callum Hudson-Odoi found Abraham, whose finish roofed the 'keeper, and there was some doubt if the ball had crossed the goal line. However, goal-line technology said it was so ...

... and who's gonna rise against technology?

Seven minutes later, Mount was gifted by good service.

Dude made no mistake with football's version of a gimme:

Then, on the half-hour, Ings retaliated by tapping in Yan Valery's delivery:

It may not have looked like it then, but the Saints were done like dinner.

It definitely appeared that way ten minues later.

Marcos Alonso was the architect, setting up Kanté, whose shot was deflected but not enough to stay away from the promised land:

After the break, Chelsea continued to dominate.

The notched their fourth in the 89th minute, when substitute Pulisic got in a run and fed Batshuayi, who beat Angus Gunn:

The Blues fortified their fifth-place standing, but Saints are getting to a point where they should be wary.

Dudes are sitting in 17th right now, one spot above the drop zone. May is still months away, but home points lost now loom large in the spring. It'd be tragic for such a pleasant destination to exit via the trap door.
