Todd Gurley Publicly Betrays the Pretend Football Community
Apparently, in the bizarro world we currently inhabit, making a play that's acknowledged to be the right play is met with scorn and derision.
Therein lies the paradox between the NFL and the fantasy realm it supports with a never-ending stream of statistics.
Todd Gurley, who under normal circumstances is treated as a deity in fantasy circles, somehow managed to piss off seemingly half the free world with one game-clinching decision.
Here would be the play in question:

Again, the L.A. Rams' stud tailback absolutely did the right thing, but there are other considerations here.

Todd Gurley fantasy owners like myself everywhere when he fell down instead of scoring pic.twitter.com/94p61SzcHj

Why, you ask?
Well, the Rams led 29-27 over the Packers at the time, so if Gurley scores, they likely go up two scores. However, this gives Aaron Rodgers the ball back with a chance to score, recover an onside kick, and score again for the win.
Obviously, the odds against this occurring were long indeed, but by giving himself up, Gurley effectively ended the game right there.
This isn't the first time the Toddfather has run afoul of surly fantasy owners, as he felt their wrath back in 2016 after a relatively unproductive season under the oppressive reign of former coach Jeff Fisher.
Of course, this was before he turned into a touchdown dispenser the past two seasons with young offensive guru Sean McVay at the controls.
And how does our friend feel about this latest fantasy tift?
“Man, forget fantasy and forget Vegas today. We got the win so that’s all that matters.”

Well, there you go.
Oh, and about that pesky point spread:
Todd Gurley going down on his own at the 4 instead of scoring a TD for the likely cover by the Rams over the Packers resulted in a $1 million-plus swing at LV sports books: mid 6 figures @WilliamHillUS and @MGMRaceSports 6 figures @SuperBookUSA lil less than 6 @CaesarsEnt #RJnow

To be clear, the $1 million-plus swing from Todd Gurley's decision to go down at the 4 rather than score for the Rams was in favor of the bettors who backed the Packers in a big way, causing the line to drop from as high as 9.5 to as low as 7 @WilliamHillUS

Oy to the vey!
