Those Scrappy New England Patriots Are Relishing the Underdog Role
To many casual or hardcore football observers, the New England Patriots are completely nauseating.
This franchise operates with machine-like precision, and on Sunday will be appearing in their eighth consecutive AFC title game, which is just absurd.
Despite this stat and many others like it, the Pats have somehow introduced a narrative painting themselves as gritty underdogs that are miraculously defying the odds.
Yep, we're calling shenanigans on this one.
Just have a listen to Tom Terrific spew this nonsense after the Pats dismantled the Chargers in the AFC divisional round:

That little giggle from Tracy Wolfson was echoed throughout the land.
As if that wasn't enough, WR Julian Edelman decided to elaborate on the theme with this abomination:

Let's just hope the proceeds go to some sorta charitable foundation, or maybe Gronk's outstanding bar tabs.
Wherever the money's going, just don't ask him about it.
Edelman asked about the ”Bet against us” T-shirts he’s selling: “I’m not taking questions about that.”

Apparently, Edelman was still feeling underappreciated, so he cut this little gem of a video featuring the favored Kansas City Chiefs:

Are we sufficently motivated yet?
But wait, there's more.
Head coach Bill Belichick, who was seemingly born in the AFC Championship, confided this week that he still experiences anxiety before games.
Holy hell, now we have to humanize a cyborg?
Yes, reports of the Patriots' demise have been greatly exaggerated, but casting themselves in the role of spoiler is just too much.
Anyway, good luck to this scrappy bunch on Sunday.
Actually, Norman Dale and Hoodie have a lot in common.
