Jimmy Garoppolo's Instagram Farewell Was a Fake

NFL free agency is upon us once more, and things have already gotten out of hand.

The first few days of the signing period are always chaotic, and it's difficult to decipher even the legitimate news.

So when it was revealed that the Jimmy Garoppolo Instagram goodbye to Boston was a hoax, it sent the Interwebs into a virtual tizzy.

Tom Brady's caddy has been the subject of rampant trade speculation in the months leading up to free agency, so when he posted something about being grateful for his time in Boston and wished everyone a hearty peace out early Friday morning, many naturally assumed the trade had actually happened.

But alas, it was not Jimmy G at all.

It appears some cyber hooligans were having a little fun with technology, along with the fragile psyche of many football fans.

The post was removed only five hours after it went up, but the damage had been done.

Yes, it seems the most coveted QB possibly available this off-season isn't going anywhere, leaving some desperate teams to pick through the carcasses of lesser talents, including Mike Glennon and Brock Osweiler.

Jimmy G will no doubt be a starting QB at some point in the future, but barring an injury to Tom Terrific, it won't be this coming season.

In the meantime, perhaps the Patriots should get a firmer grasp on technology.

Hoodie continues to struggle with everything from a simple microphone to the Microsoft tablet. Now, it appears that Garoppolo can't properly secure his own social media platforms.

Perhaps the two could take in a free class at the Greater Boston learning annex.
