Football Coach Freddie Kitchens Should Probably Learn How to Coach Football
We're just going to put this right out there.
Freddie Kitchens doesn't seem to know what the hell he's doing.
His Cleveland Browns actually found themselves in a prime time game at home, but the moment absolutely swallowed them whole.
The visiting Rams hung on for a 20-13 win, with all sorts of generous assistance from Freddie.
There was a dizzying array of poor decision making, but we'll just focus on the fourth quarter, where the Browns pissed away several opportunities to extend the game.
First there was the 4th-&-9 from the Rams 40 yard line where Kitchens inexplicably called for a draw play to Nick Chubb.
It didn't work.
#Browns run a draw on 4th-and-9 from #Rams 40, it gets stopped and Baker Mayfield looks at sideline like "why?"

Why, indeed.
4th and 9 at the LA 40 and Baker hands off to Chubb on an RPO, 2 yard gain. Don't ask, because I have no idea what that was. #Browns

Nor do we.
It was a bad decision to go for it. But that lunacy was trumped by an even worse decision on the play call.

You get the idea.
Then on the final drive with a chance to tie it up with a TD, madness ensued.
Odell Beckham didn’t have a single target on the #Browns’ final drive. That is inexplicable, Freddie Kitchens.

Sadly, that is accurate.
They managed to get inside the 10-yard line with under a minute left and all three timeouts, but three incompletions and a pick followed.
Perhaps Freddie could explain why they didn't try a run there.
You know, he seems like a swell guy, but one season as an offensive coordinator and a rapport with Baker Mayfield does not a head coach make.
Oh, and he's going to keep calling plays indefinitely.
Yes.
