Think of this as one of those brand-image games.
If it was a QB duel between, say, Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes from Power Five programs, and they put up pinball numbers, someone would ultimately pay a tribute steeped in awe.
But if it was a QB duel between, say, McKenzie Milton and Anthony Russo from Other Five programs, and they put up pinball numbers, let the nitpicking begin.
The upshot is the UCF Golden Knights -- ranked No 12 in both the first CFP and Daily Player 12 polls -- won their 21st straight game by outshooting Temple, 52-40.
In so doing, dudes finally met a team this season with a winning record.
Sure.
Check out the entire SEC contenders' schedules.
The Knights have a bitta work to do the rest of the way, and their gauntlet started with the Owls:
Stats ahoy:
- McKenzie ... 17-33 for 312yd with 3 TDs and 1 INT
- Russo ... 31-52 for 444yd with 4 TDs and 2 INTs.
- UCF RB Greg McCrae ... 16-188 with 1 TC
- Temple RB Ryquell Armstead ... 27-142
As to the defenses, they'd probably look right at home in the Big XII.
