LeBron: Not 1, Not 2 ... but 30,000
Inevitable and imminent are accurate terms when The King is only seven points away from a milestone.
And like other anointed kings -- Henrik Lundqvist in hockey, for example, and Elvis in the known universe -- LeBron James knows when it's his moment.
Not his moment as in being the go-to dude. That's, like, every other possession.
No, this is about knowing his moment.
If there's one area where James could tune it up a little, it's his tendency toward tone deafness in the PR department every now and then.
Replace mics and keyboards with a basketball, though, and his impact emerges in historic proportions.
As in becoming one of an exclusive group of legends to reach 30,000 career points in the NBA.
The occasion occurred in San Antonio near the end of the first quarter:
For the record, here are the four Hall of Famers and two who'll be there soon enough who've done it:
It's mind-boggling that this accomplishment combined with James's other career numbers puts him in the stratosphere.
Dude's the only mortal to surpass:
- 30,000 points,
- 7,000 assists, and
- 7,000 rebounds.
30,000 career points: earned not given.

Congratulations to @KingJames, who just became the youngest player in NBA history to score 30K.#StriveForGreatness pic.twitter.com/tHmuVGGK6L
So, what the hell, if he wants to do the Young Sheldon/Current Sheldon thing, he's earned that, too.
