Dubs Crush Cavs as Expected, Win 3rd Title in 4 Years

Where were the Toronto Raptors when the hoops world needed them?

Oh, that's right. Dudes with the Eastern Conference's best record got dumped outta the playoffs by LeBron James and a buncha players holding union cards.

With their exit, the die was cast.

It was never on the cards that James could hold down a fort against a legion of stars from whichever team took the Western Conference title.

And so it was.

The real NBA championship game was decided in the West's Game 7 when Golden State vanquished Houston's one-dimensional Rockets.

Coming one day after those dynamic scenes of the Washington Capitals finally winning a Stanley Cup, the muted mood of inevitability in Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena was buzzkill personnified.

The only possible successful strategy the Cavaliers had available was put forward by that bastion of journalism, The Onion.

Don't show up.

But they did, and they paid for it:

No Loudville in Game 4. A 108-85 thrashing completed Golden State's sweep that confirmed yet again that team play tops individual brilliance.

Especially a team of brilliantly skilled individuals who checked their egos at the door.

It was Finals MVP Kevin Durant who featured in the Dubs' offense for the second game in a row.

Dude did the triple-dub, going off for 20 points, 10 dimes, and 12 boards.

Better yet, Durant has already committed to remaining in OakTown. That's one less concern Dubs' GM Bob Myers has in keeping the juggernaut on full blast.

Not so for the Cavs. The shakedown that'll determine their continued relevance now begins in earnest.
