Spurs' Ex-Swan Helps to Wash the Welsh Side Away
It was the first match of the New Year for Tottenham, and it got the expected result.
Swansea City hosted the perennial Premiership dark horse and wound up being quite accommodating.
Spurs took gladly grabbed the three points with an 0-2 whitewash at Liberty Stadium on a day when wash was indeed the appropriate term.
Worse for Swans, a former player even scored against them.
That would be Fernando Llorente, who had to be elated that, if he was gonna leave Wales' only Premiership presence, it'd be to a club like Tottenham.
It's been a gloomy season overall for Swans, who earned their way into the Premiership in 2011-2012 despite a limited budget and managed to ensconce themselves as a middle-table fixture.
However, their burn rate for managers has accelerated in the past two years -- including former USA coach Bob Bradley -- with seven of them coming and going. Instability like that shows on the pitch.
So, a goal was clearly on the cards for Spurs' deadly duo, Harry Kane and Deli Ali, and they delivered. Dudes combined yet again and secured Tottenham's total control of the proceedings:
Kane with the assist and Ali with a superb goal. Usually, it's the other way around.
So, as Spurs go merrily sloshing their way back to Jolly Old, Swansea's left to wonder whether the dark clouds this season are ever gonna part.
